What Happens Once The Statutory Demand is Served?

Once the individual or company that owes you money (the ‘debtor’) receives (is 'served') a statutory demand, they have 21 days to either: -

If they fail to pay or reach an agreement with you then you could apply to bankrupt the debtor or wind-up and close the company.

A Statutory Demand gives a debtor a limited amount of time to deal with the debt or potentially face bankruptcy or closure of their business. There is no need for Court action and the Demand can be served very quickly.
